This Postage Calculator is provided as a rough guide to our customers. Prices change and we cannot guarantee that they are up to date; we take absolutely no responsibility for any delivery problems caused by inaccuracies on this page. Always check with The Post Office before sending.

Inland Letter Post

This table gives the prices and weights for basic letter post. For valuable items or items which need to arrive by 9.00 am (prices for this more expensive option are not shown in table below) or 1.00 pm (prices below) on the next working day, use Special Delivery; when you simply need to know an item has arrived at its destination, use Registered Post. Other parcel delivery options for heavy items are available and may be more economical, although we can not offer Priority services for items sent through Royal Mail Parcels.

In addition to the prices shown, note that:

• Size and weight restrictions apply on all letter and parcel post, and you should check before sending.
• For Registered Delivery, which requires a signature on the package on receipt, add 65p to the cost of First or Second Class postage.
• The Special Delivery rates given above are for Special Delivery by 12 mid-day the next working day (when sent before the final collection on the preceding day). A delivery by 9am service is also available, at an additional cost. You can also buy additional Consequential Loss Compensation, which covers the package up to a value of £10 000 where delay, loss or damage of the item results in extra expense which has no relation to the physical value of the item (e.g. legal documents).

International Post

Letters are for personal items. For goods and gifts, the Small Packet rate is the most economical or send impersonal documents such as newspapers or books using Printed Papers. Write 'SMALL PACKET' or 'PRINTED PAPERS' on the front, top-left corner. The maximum weight for all items is 2kg., and there are other limits on sizes and the types of goods which can be sent. Check with The Post Office before sending. Also note that:

• Letters do not require a Customs declaration. Printed Papers and Small Packets should have a customs declaration when being sent to destinations outside the EU.
• Europe includes all European Union countries and Russia; World Zone 1 covers most of the world, including the United States; World Zone 2 covers Australasia and the Far East, including Japan

In addition to these basic services, there are also available:

• Special prices for HM Forces mail
• International Signed-For and Air Sure, which provides additional compensation.

Please enquire about these in the Post Office. We are unable to offer international priority services for parcels, although letters and small packets can be sent via AirSure.
